Alec Baldwin's official approval

My sweet hubby had a fantastic time at Comic Con this spring. This is pure heaven for any true blue nerd/geek. He had asked me back in December to make him a Jayne Cobb hat.
"A what!?" I asked.
How well he knows me. He had already found some pins and patterns for me to use. Gotta love that man. He didn't have to beg too much, just enough to make me smile. Anyway, I crocheted one for him. I thought it turned out great but only when we got the official Seal of Approval from Alec Baldwin did I hit the home run. Several other guys were dressed as Jayne Cobb with hats purchased online. Both Alec and Nathan Finnion commented to my sweet hubby specifically "nice hat!" They both said how much they liked it and asked about where he got it. He proudly informed them his wife had made it.
He had several other guys ask if I could make them one. His response, "I don't think so."
Yeah, only made with extra love for a special guy! Throughout the day he regularly had people comment on his hat. He even won a $30 photo voucher because of it. He was thrilled.
This was his photo op with Alec Baldwin. He had it all planned out what to do. He got up there, handed Alec his other gun to which Alec said, "back to back?".
"Back to back"!
Just like a kid in a candy store.
Here is the pattern I based mine off of. I made some adjustments but this was my favorite pattern. I wish I could knit but that is one thing I don't do.

Manly cards....

I hope youl had a great Father's Day weekend. I worked all weekend but managed to have a relaxing few hours with my sweet hubby and talk with my dear dad.
Between us, I think my boys were glad to have dad all to themselves. They spent time playing Pokemon while mom was working. My hubby is wonderful with his boys. It helps that he is just a big boy himself but they really do love playing together. It is great for me to watch.
I made a couple of cards for my dad and my father in law. There are 3 to 1 more boys than girls in my hubby's family so male cards are always on my radar. I was tickled to come up with these.
I am loving Jim Holtz stuff. It is perfect for the manly card. A while back I found some on sale. I grabbed several items. These just don't go on sale that often.
 So here's what I did....
Start with a nice brown base....
Stick the checker print and a thin strip of the striped print on a darker brown....
I love using a bit of jute. Wrap it around twice then tie a bow...
I used the foam adhesives to give it a bit of pop. Then stick it to the card base.
From here I used alphabet cards and a nice pin...
I usually make up a couple of extra cards. If you have the supplies out for one it doesn't take much more to make a couple of extra.
Now when I need a birthday card or something else I can add a couple more embellishments or alpha cards and have a great card in seconds. It's what keeps me from drowning in last minute, "oh no, I nearly forgot" moments.

Father's Day Printable

Remember our PTA Santa shop? Well, I have been on the hunt for dad's gifts...with little success I'm afraid to say. I am hoping that Father's Day will bring some ideas out. Until then I am scouring the internet and Pinterest for something I can make.
I did find some wordart that I thought would be simple and fun. Something like this....
Just print it out.
Add a frame of your choosing and VOILA!
A great little something for dad.
I am hoping to find some frames at the thrift store to repaint.
I did it up in 4 colors. You can download which ever you like.
Just click on the picture you want.
Let me know what you think. I love hearing from you.
ENJOY!

Great dads!

We had a fantastic weekend. Spent Friday at Lagoon with my favorite boys. Just me and 4 boys with one wonderful father.
I have spent the past 16 yrs with this man. He is what makes my heart beat each day. I love to see him wrestle with his boys, play games, teach and lead them. He has been sharing more insites during our family scripture study each night. He never stopped amazing me. I love him and his boys love him. We all look forward to the weekends when dad will be home and ready to play. I am so thankful for someone my boys can look up to. He sets the perfect example of a man, husband and father.

Then we were off to Idaho to see the other great men in our lives....

Growing up I missed a lot of my own dad. He is the ultimate work-a-holic! He always worked 2 or 3 jobs to provide for his family. We didn't have it all but we had all that matter- together. My dad taught me the value of work; the names of tools, how to work a shovel and a hammer. My dad taught me to be patient (still learning this one ;-p ). He taught me to value the simple things, the smell of fresh air and farming. He taught me by example to be true to myself no matter what. He taught me to set my goals and work to achieve them. He taught me to work smarter...not harder. My dad inspired me to go get "that stupid piece of paper", my Bachelors of Science in Nursing. My dad supported me through all the ups and downs. I remember my dad sitting with me on my bed during those crazy teen drama moments. With a house of girls he treated us each as a princess. He gave us all he had and prayed he could do more......
Dad- you never could have done more. You were already the best dad!

My life would not be what it is without one last dad in my life....My sweet father in law. He is responsible for the man who stole my heart. He holds firm to his convictions, steadfast and strong. He faced life's greatest fears and won. He raised a house of 5 boys, all of which became Eagle Scouts and know the value of freedom. He taught my sweetheart to honor his priesthood and to follow his heart. He taught him the value of humility and seeking our Father in Heaven in prayer for guidance each day. He laughs at the antics of all the grandsons in his life, setting a good example for them to follow.
These are the men in my life, without whom I would be lost. Thank you each. I love you.
Happy Fathers Day!
