With Easter around the corner I thought I would share one of our favorite activities. In a house of boys food is always the center of attention. I meet "Hungry" 'round the clock. You know the "mom, I'm Hungry"! So whenever I can teach with food it is a double score for mom. Scripture reading in front of brownies and ice cream- quietest family scripture time E.V.E.R! With that in mind try the Easter story with these yummy and E.A.S.Y rolls:
Easter Rolls
1 pkg Crescent Rolls
Melted butter
8 large marshmallows
cinnamon
sugar
Heat oven to 350 deg. While reviewing the Easter Story build your roll.
Give each child a triangle of crescent rolls:
*** This is the cloth that Jesus was wrapped in.
Give each child a marshmallow
***This is Jesus
Have the child dip the marshmallow in melted butter
***This is the oils of embalming
Dip the buttered marshmallow in cinnamon and sugar
***This is the spices used to annoint the body.
Then wrap up the coated marshmallow tightly in the crescent roll...Bring the sides up and seal the marshmallow inside.
***This is the wrapping Jesus' body after his death.
Bake for 10-12 minutes.
***The oven is the tomb- pretend it has been 3 days
When the rolls have cooled slightly, the children can open their rolls (cloth) and discover that Jesus is no longer there. He is risen. The marshmallow melts and the crescent roll is puffed up but empty.
This is a fun activity to do all together.
What an ingenious idea! Maybe my kids will actually listen in FHE!
